Terms of Use
Updated 10/12/2026
These terms apply when you use StoryFM, on the web or in the mobile app. By using the service, or by signing in, posting a review or applying as an author, you agree to them.
On this page
In short
- Listening is free; an account is optional and needs you to be 13 or older.
- Stories belong to their authors. You may listen for personal use only.
- What you post stays yours; you let us host and stream it.
- Follow the community guidelines: we remove content and lock accounts that don't.
- We act on copyright notices and close repeat infringers' accounts.
1. The service
We offer free access to audio and video stories. We may add, change or remove stories and features at any time, and we may suspend the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
2. Accounts
- Listening needs no account. If you create one, you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country), give accurate information and keep access to your email or Google account safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.
3. Using the stories
The stories belong to their authors or to us. You may listen to them for your own personal, non-commercial use through our site and apps. You may not copy, download (other than through features we provide), redistribute, sell or publicly perform them.
4. What you post
- Reviews, author profiles, stories and anything else you submit stay yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, stream, display, adapt for playback and promote that content on our site, apps and channels for as long as it is on the service.
- You confirm that you own what you submit or have every right needed to publish it, and that it doesn't break these terms or any law.
5. Community guidelines
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Our community guidelines are part of these terms. In particular, you may not post or do anything that:
- is illegal, or promotes illegal activity;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- sexualizes minors in any way, or is sexually explicit;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or promotes violence against anyone, or attacks people for who they are (hate speech);
- impersonates someone, is spam or misleading, or links to malware;
- scrapes, overloads, reverse-engineers or tries to get around the security of the service.
6. Moderation
- Anyone can report content with the Report button. We review reports, and new authors and changes to author profiles are reviewed before they appear.
- We may remove any content and suspend or close any account that breaks these terms, with or without notice. Authors whose account is locked are told why.
7. Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of copyright infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). See the Contact page for how to send one. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as ownership, disclaimers and limits of liability) continue to apply.
9. App stores
If you use our app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, who are not responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You also have to follow the store's own terms.
10. Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Stories are the work of their authors and don't necessarily reflect our views.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. The service is free, and our total liability is limited to US$50.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top; if the change is significant, we let signed-in users know. Using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
